Prince Edward Island

Back in 2006, my family and I drove to Prince Edward Island. We were camping most of the time at Cabot Beach Provincial Park near Malpeque Bay. There is lots to do on PEI, cycling the Confederation trail, visit Province House in Charlottetown, Anne of Green Gables, the inspiration of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic book, fishing villages, old churches, lighthouses and wind swept beaches.

It was the first time we were able to cross the Confederation bridge, which makes coming and going a lot easier than the ferry. I like ferries, but for convenience a bridge is better. The last time were were there was in 1995 when the bridge was under construction, and we could see a large staging area on the New Brunswick shore where the concrete peirs were built then placed out in the water. It was impressive.
